During the Spring of 2016, a most precarious situation unfolded between a mouse and an Elephant. An unlikely pair of competitors, Chessie Trunkston and Hershel Higginbottom went big toe to little toe in a match with no end.
This "Checkmate" sculpture was a life sized sand sculpture that was designed by Ray Villafane and brought to life with the artistic assistance of the talented Sue Beatrice. "Checkmate" has made it all around the world being viewed over 14 million times (last we checked) and has always been a fan favorite and highly requested piece. Ray is finally making it available as a desktop sculpture and limited collectors item.

The Ray Villafane Line of Originals has been long awaited but is starting to finally unfold. After years of commercial sculpting for the likes of DC Comics, Marvel, Sony and Warner Brothers sculpting various licensed characters, Ray is now producing some of his own original artworks.
Subjects will vary and new additions will be added as Ray is inspired to create them.
The current productions are in keeping with his love of skulls and his desire to turn his most beloved sand sculpture into a table top version for all to enjoy.
